SUMMARY:Beekeeping Basics with the Essex County Beekeepers Association
DESCRIPTION:Join beekeepers Grace and Geoff Neale and Eric Josephson for a 3-hour beekeeping workshop on May 6th at Appleton Farms. The rewards of beekeeping are many! Honey for health and cooking\, a supply of gifts for friends and family\, and your native and non-native garden plants will be pollinated by your very own bees. In this workshop\, you’ll learn all the basics of starting and keeping a hive including wooden ware and hive components; bee biology; acquiring bees; and how and where to locate your hive. There will be beekeeping suits with veils and various other beekeeping tools to check out. DESCRIPTION:As the weather warms up\, we welcome our newest set of lambs to the farm. Join our Educator and farm staff as we take tours out to meet the lambs in our pastures. Everyone will learn about how we raise our pastured sheep here at the farm and there will be free crafts and an outdoor scavenger hunt if the weather permits. This event is free and open to the public.
