SUMMARY:Afternoon Adventures at Appleton Farms
DESCRIPTION:Let’s get outside and learn! “Appleton Farms After School Adventures” offers a chance for kids to explore\, learn\, and play in the fields\, garden\, barnyard\, and forest. These series’ offer elementary-aged students the opportunity to participate in environmentally focused\, farm-based activities led by our experienced education staff. Through educator-guided experiential learning\, students explore sustainability\, agroecology\, life cycles\, soil science\, history\, and more – making important connections to their ongoing learning and development. Activities include plenty of time gardening\, hiking\, and exploring. \nThis is an educational afternoon drop-off program for children ages 7-11 offered on Thursdays for five weeks. Program dates are January 5\, 12\, 19\, 26\, and February 2. Your fee covers all five sessions. Children should be prepared to spend days outdoors and should pack a snack and dress accordingly.

DESCRIPTION:In this workshop\, participants will learn to make our Farmhouse Chicken Pot Pie using locally-sourced and seasonal ingredients. Appleton Farms Baker Kami Turgeon will lead a hands-on pie crust making demonstration using local flour. Learn the secrets to a perfectly flaky\, sturdy crust\, as well as how to make the filling and gravy. Participants will enjoy making pie dough by hand and will take home a prepped pie\, ready for the oven!
