SUMMARY:Farm to Kitchen: Cooking with Maple (and Sugaring Tour!)
DESCRIPTION:March is the time for sugaring in New England.  Appleton keeps this very special tradition alive by tapping the farms’ beautiful maple trees and producing wood-fired\, small-batch syrup. \nThe first part of the workshop will include a leisurely walk around the farmstead to show how sap is harvested and collected. The tour will wrap up at our sugar shack so you can see (and smell!) the transformation of sap to syrup. You’ll gather in the farm kitchen for the second part of the workshop\, where chef Carolyn Grieco will teach how to make sweet and savory recipes utilizing local\, seasonal ingredients along with Appleton Farms maple syrup and sugar.  Workshop ends with a generous sampling of all our delicious maple dishes! \nBYOB event. \nMenu: \n\nSeasonal Root Veggie Slaw with Maple-Balsamic-Poppy Dressing\nMaple & Mustard Crusted Chicken\nMaple-Nut Shortbread Bars\n\nThis menu cannot be made vegetarian or gluten free unfortunately. To inquire about allergies\, please email Carolyn’s at farmcook1@verizon.net at least three days in advance. Please note that Appleton Farm is not an allergy-free kitchen and there’s always a slight risk of cross contamination. \nYou can choose between a morning session or an afternoon session. \nMember price: $72 \nNonmember price: $90
