DESCRIPTION:Each play-based hour features a unique opportunity to engage with art\, stories\, materials\, nature\, and new friends. The conversation and stories start just after 10:30. Then\, we look at the art\, and after\, we create inspired by what we’ve seen and heard. \nJanuary’s inspiration: Allison Janae Hamilton’s Wacissa in Downstream and the immersive riverbed experience in The Lab. We will meet in The Lab on the 4th floor. \nBest for children ages 2-5 accompanied by a caregiver. \nIn the event of a cancellation\, those registered will receive an email. \nPre-ticketing is required in order to maintain capacity. SUMMARY:Preschool Farm Explorers Winter DROP-IN CLASS
DESCRIPTION:Winter is in the air and the animals of the farm and woods have prepared themselves for winter. Can we find their signs\, like homes\, tracks\, and caches of food? What happens in winter around the farm? We invite little farmers to experience life at the farm in winter. Through farm “chores\,” age-appropriate hands-on activities\, stories\, and visits with our barnyard animals\, little farmers will become fully immersed in what life is like for a farmer. \nThis program is recommended for children age 2 years 9 months to age 4. Adult supervision is required for this program. This is not a drop-off program. This Preschool Farm Explorers DROP-IN CLASS is a once-a-week\, one hour long preschool farm experience. DESCRIPTION:Every winter\, birding teams from all over the state face off in the annual Superbowl of Birding\, hoping to bring home the coveted Joppa Cup. Teams of all ages and birding abilities join the friendly competition\, searching through Essex County\, MA\, and Rockingham County\, NH for birds that will earn them the most points in 12 hours. Points are assigned to each species based on how commonly or uncommonly they are found in our area at this time of year; check out the official 2023 checklist with points values here. \nDo you have what it takes to bring home the Joppa Cup? Assemble your team of 4-7 birders\, review the competition rules and birding code of ethics and register today! \nJoppa Flats Education Center is hosting an Accessible Superbowl of Birding team this year! This team is designed to be intentionally inclusive and accessible for people with disabilities. For more information on joining our accessible team\, please email joppaflats@massaudubon.org. \nIf you are an individual\, couple\, or group of three and you would like to participate\, please email Sarah Courchesne and we will help you identify others who need additional teammates. It’s a great way to make new birding buddies! \n$20 per Adult (ages 13 & up) • $10 per Child (ages 6-12) \nAll participants must register online. Team Captains should email us the names of all team members as well as your team name.
