Our local farms and restaurants are prioritizing the safety of our community with their businesses during this time. We understand that it is important to continue to provide healthy food options for our families and we have compiled a list of farms and farmers’ markets in Essex and Middlesex counties that are currently open and offering products during this difficult and changing time. Some are offering online orders, curb-side pick-ups, CSA shares or other resources. It’s important that we continue to support our local farms and help our community members too.
We also know that the farmers market season is here and we are keeping an eye on each community to see when they plan to open, so that they can also provide you with fresh local food all season, but also keeping up with safety recommendations from the FDA and CDC.
Finally, we are continuing to research and provide a list of available Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs around the community. A CSA is when a farmer offers a certain number of “shares” to the public. Interested consumers purchase a share and in return receive a box (bag, basket) of seasonal produce each week throughout the farming season. Please be sure to reach out to the farm to check on availability, as many are selling out for the Spring/Summer seasons.
